AUTHOR – SHERYL SANDBERG
Lean In is a brilliantly written book every professional must read. Sheryl Sandberg has effectively explained the need of Leaning In of both the genders to stop these gender wars and practice gender equality in real terms. “Are you my mentor” and “Working together toward equality” were my fav chapters from the book. When I read more about mentoring I remembered how I learned on the way from so many. Special mention – “Concept of conscious leadership” was quite intriguing.
While few chapters were very gripping, I was not completely attentive on some which described parenting and the challenges of working moms. No way do I belittle what working moms and stay-home moms have to go through. Huge respect to them. But I felt left out because there was only one sentence about single women, not to blame the author. But I would like to mention that, single women have obstacles at several different levels. Even more so, being an immigrant single female makes it even harder at the workplace and in the society. There are gender biases and there are biases based on marital status too. The war between ‘Us and Them’ is secondary, what should curb is the war between ‘Us and Us’. The gap is huge when it comes to Women, Work and Will to Lead. Just be bold and proceed, because fortune favors the bold.
